History of Candles

The history of candles dates back to ancient times when they were used as a source of light and as a way to mark important events or ceremonies. Candles have been made from a variety of materials throughout history, including beeswax, tallow (animal fat), and plant-based waxes like soy and palm.

The earliest known candles were made by the ancient Egyptians, who used beeswax candles in their tombs and temples as early as 2500 BC.

Candles made from animal fat (tallow) were used by the ancient Romans and Greeks and were also popular in medieval Europe. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, candles made from paraffin wax, a byproduct of the oil refining process, became popular due to their low cost and long burn time.

Today, candles are used for a variety of purposes, including lighting, fragrance, and decoration. They are made from a range of materials, including beeswax, soy wax, and paraffin wax, and can be scented and colored to suit the preferences of the user.
