5 people arrested at Joyner Park after shooting, police chase

On Saturday, May 15th, 2021, at approximately 3:45 PM, five individuals were arrested at Joyner Park in Raleigh, North Carolina after a shooting and police chase. According to the Raleigh Police Department (RPD), officers responded to a report of a shooting on N. Allen Road, which is located near the park.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a suspect had been shot and was lying on the ground. The victim was transported to WakeMed Hospital for treatment. The RPD stated that the suspect's injuries were not life-threatening.

As officers were investigating the shooting, they attempted to stop a vehicle that was believed to be connected to the incident. However, the driver of the vehicle refused to comply with police commands and fled the scene. This led to a high-speed chase through the city, which lasted for several minutes.

During the chase, officers used their vehicles to block the suspect's path and eventually forced the vehicle to stop near Joyner Park. The five individuals inside the vehicle were arrested and charged with various crimes related to the shooting and the chase.

The RPD stated that the suspect in the shooting was a 24-year-old male from Raleigh, North Carolina. The charges against the five individuals arrested are not yet known as the investigation is ongoing. The RPD also stated that they are working closely with the Wake County District Attorney's Office to determine the appropriate charges for each suspect.
