Woman and 2 children killed in head-on crash on 15 Freeway in rainy San Bernardino County desert

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a tragic head-on collision occurred on the 15 Freeway in the rainy San Bernardino County desert, resulting in the deaths of a woman and two children. The incident took place during heavy rainfall conditions, making the roads slippery and treacherous.

The unfortunate incident involved a Kia sedan that was traveling southbound on the 15 Freeway. As the driver navigated through the wet conditions, the vehicle began to hydroplane, causing it to lose control. The Kia veered out of its lane and crossed into the northbound lanes, directly colliding with an oncoming vehicle.

Sadly, the woman behind the wheel of the Kia, as well as two children who were passengers in the vehicle, did not survive the impact. One of the deceased children was identified as a resident from Los Angeles. The other passengers in the northbound vehicle were reportedly injured but are expected to survive.

CHP officials are currently investigating the cause of the collision, including the possibility that the wet road conditions may have contributed to the loss of control of the Kia. The identities of those involved have not been released at this time, out of respect for the families' privacy during this difficult time.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder for drivers to exercise caution while driving during adverse weather conditions, especially heavy rainfall. It is essential to maintain a safe following distance, reduce speed, and avoid sudden maneuvers that could cause a loss of control. The CHP urges all motorists to stay alert and focused while behind the wheel, ensuring the safety of themselves and others on the road.
