No police charges for Taylor Swift's dad over Sydney paparazzi incident

In November 2019, there was an incident involving Taylor Swift's father, Scott Swift, and a group of paparazzi photographers in Sydney, Australia. The incident occurred when Scott Swift reportedly tried to shield his daughter from being photographed by the paparazzi as they were leaving a restaurant.

According to reports, Scott Swift allegedly pushed and shoved a photographer during the altercation. However, despite these allegations, no formal police charges were filed against him. The New South Wales Police Force confirmed to media outlets that they had been made aware of the incident but that no report had been lodged and no further action was required.

Taylor Swift and her boyfriend at the time, Joe Alwyn, were in Sydney for the ARIA Music Awards where Swift was set to receive the Global Recognition Award. The singer had previously spoken out about her dislike for paparazzi and the intrusion into her personal life.

Swift took to social media to express her frustration with the situation, tweeting "So many aspects of my life that are the most sacred, personal and private are not mine to control. At least I know this: I am blessed with unwavering support from fans and people that I love, I've been given the opportunity to work with incredible artists and I will continue to cherish every second of it."

The incident served as a reminder of the ongoing issue of privacy and harassment faced by celebrities and their families at the hands of the paparazzi. Despite no formal charges being filed against Scott Swift, the incident highlighted the need for greater protection and respect for the privacy of public figures and their loved ones.
