PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth more than Rs 17,300 crores in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu today. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of Outer Harbor Container Terminal at V.O.Chidambaranar Port. This project is expected to be completed by 2024 and will have a capacity of handling 16 million metric tons of cargo annually.

The Prime Minister also launched India's first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell, which will be used in the transportation sector. The project is expected to create employment opportunities for over 50,000 people and reduce carbon emissions by 2.5 lakh tonnes per year.

In addition to these projects, PM Modi also dedicated to the nation a new railway line connecting Thoothukudi with Chennai and another railway line connecting Thoothukudi with Tuticorin. These projects are expected to boost economic growth in the region and improve connectivity.
