Inaugural Baylor Fulbright Day honors record-breaking success in program

The inaugural Baylor Fulbright Day was held on Tuesday to celebrate the achievements of past Fulbright winners and this year's finalists. The event recognized the record-breaking success of Baylor in the program in recent years.

The Fulbright Program is a highly competitive, merit-based scholarship that provides funding for American students to study, research or teach abroad. Baylor has had a long history of success in the program, with many students receiving the prestigious award over the years. In recent years, however, Baylor's success in the program has been particularly noteworthy.

According to the Fulbright Commission, Baylor was the top-performing institution in Texas in 2019 and 2020, with a total of 14 students receiving Fulbright awards during that time period. This is a significant achievement, as Texas is home to many highly competitive universities.

In addition to its success in recent years, Baylor has also had a number of notable Fulbright winners over the years. These include Dr. Elizabeth Johnson, who was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford in 2018, and Dr. Michael Smith, who received a Fulbright Senior Research Award to study at the University of Cambridge in 2019.

The inaugural Baylor Fulbright Day was an opportunity for the university community to come together and celebrate the achievements of these students and faculty members. The event included presentations from past Fulbright winners, as well as information about the program and how students can apply for future awards.
